Utila is one of Honduras' Bay Islands and is renowned as one of the least expensive places to get certified as a scuba diver in the world. It is also the third largest Bay Island after Roatán and Guanaja. The island is completely surrounded by coral reefs teeming with life and there are protected areas on the North side that boast some of the best diving the island has to offer.

And all that with the added bonus of Whale Sharks sightings during the months March-April and August-September!

Anytime is a good time to visit the Bay Islands for diving, but the best time would be outside of the rainy season between October and November.

Utila can easily be reached coming in from the neighbouring island of Roatan or from the mainland airports of San Pedro Sula or La Ceiba.

You can fly with either Aerolineas Sosa (www.aerolineasosahn.com), CM Airlines (www.cmairlines.com) or Island Air Honduras (www.islandairhonduras.com).

Coming in from La Ceiba, the island of Utila can also be reached through the local ferry service called the Utila Princess (www.utilaprincess.com).
