Stradbroke Island offers some great diving that can only be described as exhilarating! Only minutes away from your doorstep, Straddie’s reefs are teeming with various marine life like Manta rays and Leopard sharks during summer (Nov-Apr), endangered Grey Nurse sharks and humpback whales during winter (Jun-Oct), plus bull & eagle rays, guitar & wobbegong sharks, turtles, dolphins, octopus, pelagics, hard & soft corals, nudibranchs plus hundreds of tropical fish species. Visibility is usually around 15-20m, and, during the summer months the visibility can go up to 30m!

Manta Lodge was opened in 1992 and is the island’s only PADI dive centre. And it is ideally located right on the beach at the beautiful Point Lookout.
Any time is a good time to visit Stradbroke. Winter time is probably your best bet for less rainy days, but the summer from November to May has far better temperatures.
Get to the vehicle and passenger ferries at Toondah Harbour in Cleveland. Cleveland lies one hour drive from the Gold Coast or Brisbane international and domestic airports.
From there it’s a pleasant journey across the calm waters of the bay by passenger or vehicle ferry (www.stradbrokeferries.com.au).
