What makes this part of the island so special besides wrecks, canyons, lava tubes, healthy reefs and tons of marine life is the so called Shark Awareness dive or 'Shark Hotel' dive site. During this dive you will have the chance to come up close with Caribbean reef sharks. The sharks attending are free to come and go as they please. So you never know how many sharks will show up for the feed. The diveshops only take a couple of pieces of fish to be divided between many sharks once or twice a week so they still have to hunt for themselves.
So don’t limit your trip to Dutch St. Martin to just the beaches, the rum and the casino’s. There is a lot to dive for in this part of the West Indies.

St. Maarten is a year-round tropical destination. The island experiences warm and dry temperatures year-round. The summer sees fewer visitors and is the cheapest time to visit. Much of the spring and fall provides a mix of pleasant weather, fewer crowds and lower prices.
Getting to the Dutch part of the island of St. Martin is not difficult. The international airport is located on the Dutch side of the island. Most major airlines fly into the Princess Juliana International Airport (Airport Code SXM) www.sxmairport.com
