Surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean, Isla Mujeres is known for its spectacular beaches, island transportation by golf cart and the underwater sculpture park made by Jason de Caires Taylor

But most of all Isla Mujeres is one of the best spots worldwide to be swimming with Whalesharks. During the summer months (June - September) hundreds of Whale Sharks gather just north of Isla Mujeres in a seven mile radius to take advantage of the plankton rich waters created by the joining of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.

So if you happen to be visiting Cancun anyway make sure to hop on the ferry to Isla Mujeres and experience all it has to offer!

There really is not a bad time of year to visit Isla Mujeres. Only keep in mind that the popular tourist season is generally considered to be from December through March. And  as a result of increased demand, prices of hotels are generally more expensive at this time of year. Late autumn and early spring generally bring the best weather but also a lot of tourists but this is the best period if you're in search of uninterrupted sunshine. And whaleshark season is from June to September!

Fly into Cancun Airport (Airport code CUN) and then take the 15 minute ferry trip with Ultramar to Isla Mujeres from Puerto Juárez or Gran Puerto Cancun. For more info visit
