This remarkable atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago is probably DiveSpot’s premier dive destination and is classified and protected by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve. Fakarava’s rich ecosystem mainly means: dive dive dive!!! And especially dive with a lot of sharks. Literally walls of sharks! But make sure you are well prepared when you come all this way as the north pass is reached within 30 minutes by boat from the Dive Centers located in the northern part of Fakarava and the south pass takes around 1,5 hours by boat coming from the north. So make sure to choose wisely wether to stay in the north or the south or combine both. Both the north and the south pass are fenomenal but the pass in the South is a shark lover's paradise with the famous Tetamanu Wall of Sharks! Believe us: this place will leave an unbelievable impression on you.

The best time to visit the Society Islands of French Polynesia is outside the cyclone season between the months of April and November.
Outside this period it can get quite hot and unpleasantly humid.
And don’t forget that from june to October humpback whales visit the Society Islands!
First fly into French Polynesia’s International Airport called Faa'a International Airport (www.tahiti-aeroport.pf) (Airport code PPT). This is the strategic gateway to the South Pacific islands of French Polynesia. Papeete can be reached from either Los Angeles, Japan, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Chile and Hawaii. Coming from Los Angeles the flight will take you about 9,5 hours. After arrival in Tahti take a 60 minute flight with Air Tahiti (www.airtahiti.pf) to get to Fakarava.
